alternative transit

The Automated Transit Network was a project started around 2012 designed to decrease traffic in the Bay Area. The idea is that a system of pod cars, suspended above the city streets, would eliminate the need to drive or take the train for most people commuting to work. The hope was that this could seriously reduce traffic and improve air quality. It was essential to integrate a mobile app and kiosk interface for pod reservation.

Special considerations had to be kept in mind when designing for commuters. On one hand there are frequent commuters who travel between two or three locations frequently, and on the other hand there are visitors and one-time-use travelers who are unfamiliar with the system and may travel anywhere. It was therefore important to design an interface that accommodated both while remaining lean and in-line with its core elements.
